Italian Sweets, and Sugary Stuff....

Cannolis - (Italian)
Little tubes of crispy, fried pasta - filled with sweet ricotta or mascarpone cheese.  Amazingly rich, these pastries come in regular and chocolate - and are as amazingly addictive as good cheesecake!  Definitely 4 stars, though they're death to any decent diet...

Would I try again?  Please.  Of course.

Gelato - (Italian)
Italian ice cream - it's got less air than American ice cream, is denser and therefore creates a richer, creamier sensation.  The average stuff in NY is just so-so, but if you go to one of the better locations, it's worth trying.  Specifically (of the places I've gone), you should try your gelato at one of the three locations listed below.   (See the "Little Survey" for further information.)

Zeppoles - (Italian)
Fried, round balls of dough - sprinkled with a light powdered sugar.  Kind of what you'd expect if a donut hole and a beignet had a child.  Hot out of the oil, they're warm, and somewhat gooey - and quite tasty.

Would I try again?  In theory, definitely.  In reality, they're just too calorific and nutritionally unsound for me to munch on.  (If I'm going to go for broke, I'd rather have a cannoli.)  Still, a decent 3.5 stars.
