Sri Lankan Drinks
Used to be that Sri Lankan cuisine was hard to find in NYC.
Way back when, there were two Sri Lankan restaurants in Manhattan - Taprobane and Lakwarana.
Both have closed, and only three remain in the outer boroughs -
One's Bownie in Queens, and New Asha and New Sunshine on Staten Island.
Staten Island!  That's pretty far to go for food, and one heck of a toll.  But now, there's reason to rejoice....
There's a new restaurant in town (over in the East Village), by the name of
Sigiri - and yes, it's good.
But before you go, here's a quick primer,so you'll know what's best to order:

Manna from HeavenSri Lankan Travel, or this Sri Lankan site here.

Faluda
Normally served between meals, Faluda is half beverage, half dessert.  Bright pink, this rose flavored milkshake is topped with colored jelly (and usually a scoop of ice cream.)  Very tasty and fun - a drink sure to appeal to any fans of bubble tea.

Would I try again?  Well, a soy version...definitely!!

Mango Cordial
A sweet smoothie made from Mango juice and pulp, and little else.  Had it in the middle of August (on a hot summer day) - and wow, did it refresh!  This one's a plus, and worth more than one taste.  (Of course, Sigiri has quite a few other cordials - including Passion Fruit and Ginger, so it may take awhile to get back to the Mango...)

Would I try again?  Yes.
